Varsity vs Castle (8 - 12) Loss Strong Hitting Not Enough As Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices Falls To Castle By GameChanger Media Even though Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices collected 10 hits to Castle's eight, they still fell 12-8 on Friday. Grace Archer, Emma Cunningham, Kahre McCrary, and Bradie Turpin each collected two hits for Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices fell despite leading 8-1 in the fourth. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices opened the scoring in the first after Grace Archer singled, scoring one run. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices committed an error, which helped Castle tie the game at one in the top of the second. A solo home run to left field by Grace Archer gave Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices added six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on two hits. Grace Archer drew a walk, scoring one run, Addy Alton drew a walk, scoring one run, and Emma Cunningham hit a grand slam to center field. Castle scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Maddie Rose singled, scoring one run, and Aubrey Baker hit a grand slam to left field. Castle flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 12-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Sadie Winsett that drove in two. Bradie Turpin started the game for Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and 12 runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out none and walking five. Sadie Winsett stepped in the circle first for Castle. The hurler allowed eight hits and five runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices collected 10 hits in the game. Emma Cunningham provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices with four runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Aubrey Baker drove the middle of the lineup, leading Castle with four runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Sadie Winsett and Aubrey Baker each collected two hits for Castle. Sadie Winsett led Castle with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game. Vincennes Lincoln Varsity Alices play at home on Saturday against Evansville Memorial in their next game.
