Free Kicks and Wild Finishes Send Boys Soccer onto Sectional Championship

Boys Soccer took a strong victory over the Pike Central Chargers on Wednesday night in the second round of sectionals. The game closed with a 4-1 victory for the Alices. Lincoln’s boys put up 28 shots in the game and controlled possession for the majority the game. The scoring opened up in the second half with an own goal going against the Charger in the 42nd minute. Daniel Henderson stepped up into the attack from the left back position and sent a dangerous cross into the box that went off a Pike Central tackle and into the back of the net. The Charger would level on a penalty kick later in the second in the 47th minute. The Alices would regain the lead on a David Ramirez free kick in the 61st that David sent straight into the back of the net. The Alices would add plenty more shots following these but did not find the back of the net again until the closing minutes. Claudson Thomas would add his first of the game with 1 minute 30 seconds left by scoring off of a spectacular bicycle kick on a David Ramirez cross. Claudson would seal the game by adding his second goal on a free kick with 15 seconds left. Goalkeeper, Paxton Smith, closed the night with 4 saves. The Man of the Match award went to Claudson Thomas for his brace(two goals) and high energy play. The Alices move on to play in sectional championship against the Gibson Southern Titans on Saturday at 2:00 PM in Washington.
